As access to justice continues to be an ever-present challenge and the need for free or low-cost legal services continues to grow, The Iowa State Bar Association has developed and collected the various resources below to assist members of the public as they seek help with their legal questions. The organizations and programs listed below represent resources available to those looking for free or low-cost legal assistance.

Iowa Find-A-Lawyer
Iowa Find-A-Lawyer is a website provided by the ISBA. Lawyers who participate in the Iowa Find-A-Lawyer program are members of this ISBA and charge zero to $25 for up to 30 minutes of initial consultation. The website includes a service directory that is designed to assist Iowa Find-A-Lawyer program participants and members of the public who are trying to locate a lawyer. If you use Iowa Find-A-Lawyer to find a lawyer to contact, please tell the lawyer that you are contacting them through the Iowa Find-A-Lawyer program and ask what they charge for their initial consultation through the Iowa Find-A-Lawyer program.

Limited Scope Representation
Some Iowa lawyers offer Limited Scope Representation. Lawyers who provide Limited Scope Representation may help with part of a case, but not all of a case. The Iowa Legal Aid’s website provides information about getting help from a lawyer with part of your case, but not all of the case.
