CLE Credit Information |
The Commission on Continuing Legal Education administers a program established by the court which requires attorneys to attend continuing legal education classes each year. Under Iowa Court Rule 41.3(2), attorneys who have active status are now required to attend 15 hours of CLE each calendar year, one hour of which must be accredited for legal ethics and one hour accredited for either "attorney wellness" or "diversity and inclusion." Wellness, diversity and ethics hours cannot be carried over.

ISBA CLE Credit Information
To assist attorneys with the reporting of their CLE credits, the ISBA has created a list of ISBA CLE events which include CLE titles, dates, state, diversity, ethics, juvenile, and wellness credit information as well as the activity numbers for each program offered by the ISBA in any given year. Credit information for ISBA On-Demand CLE and Fastcase events can also be found on these lists.

Certificate of Exemption
An Iowa-licensed attorney who does not practice law in Iowa may apply for a certificate of exemption from CLE requirements, pursuant to Iowa Court Rule 42.6. Chapter 42 of the Iowa Court Rules should be carefully examined regarding eligibility and reinstatement requirements before applying for exemption.
