The 2026 ISBA Annual Meeting, held June 22-25 exclusively at Prairie Meadows Events & Conference Center in Altoona, brings Iowa’s legal community together for four days of engaging CLE programming, meaningful networking, and timely conversations impacting the legal profession. Designed for attorneys at every stage of practice, the Annual Meeting offers practical insights, professional development, and valuable opportunities to connect with colleagues from across the state.
A highlight of this year’s gathering is the Rural Practice Symposium on Thursday, June 25, an important forum focused on the future of rural law practice and the unique opportunities and challenges facing Iowa’s rural communities. The symposium brings together leaders from law, government, agriculture, higher education, and economic development to explore how attorneys can help strengthen and sustain rural Iowa through advocacy, service, leadership, and innovation. As part of the symposium, attendees will hear from Tom Vilsack, CEO of the World Food Prize Foundation, who will join fellow panelists in a collaborative discussion examining the intersection of rural policy, economic development, agriculture, and the legal profession’s role in supporting thriving rural communities.

CLE Credit Information (full seminar)
Attend all four days of Annual Meeting and earn enough CLE credit to cover your requirements for the entire year.
24.75 state CLE credit hours which includes 4.50 ethics, 3.50 diversity, 2 wellness, and 3 juvenile hours
*CLE credit earned will depend on the sessions attended. Does not include credit for paid Probate and Diversity CLE luncheons.

Monday, June 22

Law School Luncheons (Creighton, Drake, and Iowa) - Free to alumni
Reconnect with law school alumni over lunch and conversation. Share ideas, strengthen relationships, and build new professional connections in a relaxed, welcoming setting. Luncheons above are open to law school alumni of each university.

Probate Luncheon - $35
This luncheon offers valuable insights into current probate topics and professional networking. Cost to attend is $35.

ISBA Young Lawyers Division Kentucky Derby Social - Free to all attendees
Break out the bow ties and big hats for an evening of Derby-inspired fun with the ISBA Young Lawyers Division. Enjoy complimentary food and drinks while you mix and mingle with fellow attorneys in the Pavilion overlooking the racetrack, where live horse racing will be underway throughout the evening. It is a high-energy setting and a perfect way to celebrate in true Derby style.

Diversity Luncheon CLE - $35
Join ISBA President Henry Hamilton III (2022–2023) for a luncheon presentation, “Is This Really Happening? Changes in Statutory, Common Law, and Constitutional Rights: What Attorneys Should Know,” as he breaks down the legal developments, court decisions, and shifting interpretations attorneys need to be watching right now. Cost to attend is $35.
5:00 – 6:15 p.m.
Iowa Court of Appeals Oral Arguments - Free to all
Experience the Iowa Court of Appeals in action during live oral arguments at Prairie Meadows. Open to all attendees at no cost, this unique session offers a firsthand look at the appellate process, courtroom advocacy, and how judicial decisions take shape in real time.

Iowa Court of Appeals Reception - Free to all
Continue the conversation following the Iowa Court of Appeals Oral Arguments with a reception at Prairie Meadows. Enjoy food, beverages, and the opportunity to connect with judges, attorneys, and legal professionals from across Iowa in a relaxed and engaging setting.

ISBA Wellness Club - Free to all

Pack your sneakers and join the ISBA Wellness Club for a morning wellness walk or run during the Annual Meeting. Whether you're an experienced runner, casual walker, or simply looking to enjoy some fresh air and great company, everyone is welcome. The Wellness Club is about more than fitness—it's an opportunity to connect with fellow attorneys, support one another's well-being, and start the day energized before the Annual Meeting begins. All paces welcome. No RSVP required.

Wellness Luncheon CLE - $35
Roxann Ryan, semi-retired attorney and adjunct instructor at Drake Law and Simpson College, leads “Stress, Resilience and Wellness,” a Wellness Luncheon CLE at Prairie Meadows. This program moves past theory and into day-to-day practice, focusing on how attorneys can manage pressure, reset under stress, and build resilience that actually holds up in a demanding legal career. Cost to attend is $35.
5:30 – 9:00 p.m.
ISBA Gala - $100
Join us as we honor the ISBA and its dedicated members at the 2026 ISBA Gala. Enjoy an evening of dinner, drinks, and entertainment, along with the ceremonial passing of the gavel for both the Senior Bar and Young Lawyers Division. The evening will also feature the presentation of the prestigious ISBA Award of Merit and other special moments you won’t want to miss. Cost to attend is $100.

Event Location
The 2026 ISBA Annual Meeting will be held exclusively in person at Prairie Meadows Events & Conference Center (1 Prairie Meadows Dr, Altoona, IA 50009). A virtual option is not available.
