After the successful completion of the 2026 National High School Mock Trial Championship, members of the host committee recognized a select few individuals with Special Recognition trophies for going above and beyond in their roles to ensure the smooth running of the tournament, both for other volunteers as well as students, coaches, parents, and other attendees.
District 5C Judges Hon. Celene Gogerty and Hon. David Nelmark, along with Deputy District Court Administrator Ashley Thompson played critical roles in all aspects of making sure the trial courtrooms were set and ready for the tournament, as well as ensuring that trials ran smoothly during the competition.
Ankeny Southview Middle School teacher and mock trial coach Amy Akers, in addition to making herself available for any task necessary, took the lead on the “Friday at the Fair” student social event. From catering and decorations to games and activities for the students throughout the night, Amy was instrumental in providing an outlet for students to relax and unwind amid the strenuous competition.
The Iowa State Bar Association is incredibly proud of the efforts of the entire legal community in coming together to showcase the profession in Iowa, and giving the participants, their families, and coaches from across the country and around the globe the opportunity to participate in this incredible experience.
