For more than four decades, the Iowa Mock Trial Program has given students across the state an unparalleled opportunity to step into the courtroom, explore the legal system, and develop critical life skills. Through hands-on competition and mentorship, students don the roles of attorneys and witnesses, learning not only the mechanics of the justice system but also the value of teamwork, research, and public speaking.
Each year, thousands of middle and high school students participate in this nationally recognized program—one of the largest in the country and among the few that includes both middle and high school divisions. Through regional and statewide tournaments, participants gain a deeper understanding of civic responsibility while building confidence and analytical thinking skills that extend far beyond the courtroom.
Behind this enduring success is a powerful network of educators, legal professionals, volunteers, and generous grantors whose support makes the program possible. Special thanks to The Iowa State Bar Foundation, the Lawyers Trust Account Commission IOLTA Program, and Prairie Meadows for their grant awards supporting the 2025–2026 Iowa Mock Trial Program. The Iowa Mock Trial Program’s 2025-2026 grant awards directly impact students across Iowa, providing access to high-quality civic and legal education.
As the Iowa Mock Trial Program prepares for another year of growth and impact, we extend our deepest gratitude to the grantors who make this work possible. Their continued commitment ensures that students across Iowa can experience the courtroom, discover their potential, and become the informed, engaged citizens of tomorrow.
