response to the developing situation surrounding COVID-19 and with the
health and safety of ISBA members, guests, staff and our communities
being our top priority, The Iowa State Bar Association has decided to
close the ISBA Building in Des Moines until May 4. All inquiries should
be directed to email@example.com or 515-243-3179. The ISBA will reassess this closure before May 4 and determine if an extension is needed.
partnership with Iowa Legal Aid, the ISBA and Polk County Volunteer
Lawyers Project are stepping up to create a hotline to help Iowans with
legal issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The COVID-19 Legal
Information Hotline, announced by the governor on Tuesday,
focuses on helping Iowans with COVID-19 issues related to evictions,
foreclosures, employment, domestic violence, child custody, living
wills, business issues and more. The hotline phone number is
ISBA has also decided to adjust its planned programming. The ISBA
Administrative Committee and senior ISBA staff have decided to take
these measures to comply with recommendations to increase "social
distancing" to slow the spread of COVID-19.
Effective Friday, March 13:
- All ISBA meetings and CLEs will be offered as live webinars only through at least May 4.
- The 2020 Juvenile Law Seminar scheduled for April 2 will be held as a live webinar only.
- The 2020 Criminal Law Seminar scheduled for April 3 will be held as a live webinar only.
- The 2020 Bench-Bar Conference to be held in Sioux City in May will be postponed to a yet-to-be-determined date.
