There’s still time to have an impact on whether Drake Law School or the University of Iowa College of Law takes home the 2018 Dean’s Cup trophy. Registration for the 14th annual duel between the schools is still available.
Proceeds from the event, which will be held next Monday morning, May 21, at Echo Valley Golf Course in Norwalk, benefit Iowa Legal Aid. Those proceeds, including money from a silent auction, average between $10,000 and $15,000 per year, according to Legal Aid.
All law graduates, faculty, staff and students of Drake Law School and the Iowa College of Law – of every skill level – are eligible to participate. A lawyer who is not a graduate of either school may participate in the best-shot format by declaring temporary allegiance to one of the two schools at the time of registration.
More than 100 lawyers and judges from around the state participate in the battle between the schools. Iowa, who is led by captain Judge Eliza Ovrom, has won the trophy three years, including last year. Drake, led by its captain Chief Justice Mark Cady, has taken home the trophy the other years.
