Jury trials in Iowa resumed on Monday, Sept. 14, after being halted in March due to COVID-19 concerns. Several counties hosted pilot trials over the last several weeks to test the social distancing and pandemic protocols recommended by the Jumpstart Jury Trials Task Force and approved by the Iowa Supreme Court.

Jurors involved in the pilot trials were surveyed about the safeguards in place, and you can read their impressions by clicking here. For additional media coverage of the pilot trials and new protocols, see these linked stories from Radio Iowa, the Cedar Rapids Gazette and KCCI-TV.

For information about new protocols in your specific county, please contact court administration or the chief judge in your district. Visit the Iowa Judicial Branch COVID-19 Information and Updates page for the latest pandemic-related court orders.
