On Thursday, July 9, the Iowa Supreme Court issued three orders to guide judges, attorneys, parties and all court employees as many courts resumed face-to-face services beginning on July 13. The orders include:

• Steps required for the safe resumption of services that mitigate spread of COVID-19;
• Temporary procedures for expediting family law trials; and
• A clarification of the May 22, 2020 case priority order.

Jury trials are not scheduled to resume until Sept. 14. The Jumpstart Jury Task Force submitted its report related to the resumption of jury trials with a recommendation that pilot trials occur before the restart date. State court administration is now seeking potential cases for pilot jury trials. If any attorneys have a case that might be a candidate for a pilot jury trial to take place in August 2020, please contact your district court administrator as soon as possible.
