Iowa Supreme Court Chief Justice Mark Cady signed an order last week adopting amendments to rule 16.412 of the Iowa Rules of Electronic Procedure concerning submission of hearing and trial exhibits. This comes after the EDMS Business Advisory Council submitted proposed amendments for the court's consideration and the public was allowed to comment.

Some of the changes include: requiring electronic submission of proposed exhibits prior to hearing or trial, with limited exceptions; new provisions clarifying roles and responsibilities in mistrials, criminal co-defendant trials and new trials; sanctions for party's failure to submit proposed exhibits as the rules require.
