Former Iowa Supreme Court Chief Justice Arthur Andrew McGiverin died Sunday, June 2, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 20, at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, June 21, at St. Mary of the Visitation church in Ottumwa.
Justice McGiverin was appointed to the Iowa Supreme Court in 1978 and served until his retirement in 2000. He served as chief justice the last 13 of his years on the state’s highest court.
