A free disaster relief training webinar will be offered Wednesday, May 22, to discuss current flood relief efforts in Western Iowa, common legal scenarios encountered by natural disaster survivors and how volunteer attorneys are crucial to the response. It will also cover identifying and referring survivors to available services and benefits, effective communication strategies for survivors, and dealing with common homeownership and landlord tenant issues. Victims of the recent Western Iowa floods can call a toll-free disaster hotline 833-885-9876, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. CST, Monday through Friday, to request assistance. The hotline is a partnership between Legal Aid of Iowa, The Iowa State Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division and the American Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division.
