This CLE program will provide practical tips and basic information for handling an administrative IDOT driver’s license revocation or suspension hearing. The burden of proof and the relaxed rules of evidence make these administrative hearings very different from the corresponding criminal OWI proceeding. The presenters include an assistant attorney general who represents the Department of Transportation in administrative hearings and appeals from those decisions, a defense attorney who represents individuals appealing their driver’s license revocations or suspensions, and an ALJ who presides over DOT hearings and issues decisions.

Michelle Linkvis, Assistant Attorney General, Iowa Department of Transportation

Emily Gould Chafa, Administrative Law Judge, Administrative Hearings Division, Department of Inspections & Appeals
