On Tuesday, January 21, The Iowa State Bar Association will host a free public event as part of the “ISBA People’s Law School” series.

This event will be held at the ISBA Headquarters at 625 E. Court Ave. in Des Moines from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. and live-streamed to local communities throughout the state. Please include your location preference with your registration. People who register in advance will receive an event reminder with additional location information.

The January 21 event will focus on the basics of buying and selling a home in Iowa. Topics to be discussed include:

  • An overview of real estate law for home owners
  • Abstracts and mortgages
  • Neighbors, property lines and easements

This team of speakers will provide information on title guaranty, the abstracting process, closing requirements, mortgages, underwriting, financing, and issues related to realtors, brokers and real estate agencies.
