On June 14, 2016, the Bureau of Indian Affairs (the BIA) published in the Federal Register legally-binding rules and regulations for implementing the Indian Child Welfare Act. The new regulations exclude voluntary placements of ICWA-eligible children, but require careful compliance and reporting for attorneys, state courts, state agencies and private agencies.

This webinar will provide a birds’ eye overview of some of the major changes and an in-depth discussion of how to navigate ICWA regulations and rule requirements in excluded voluntary proceedings. (Yes, ICWA still applies.)
