On Tuesday, July 16, The Iowa State Bar Association will host a free public event as part of the “ISBA People’s Law School” series.

This event will be held at the ISBA Headquarters at 625 E. Court Ave. in Des Moines from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. and live-streamed to local communities throughout the state. Please include your location preference with your registration. People who register in advance will receive an event reminder with additional location information.

The event is focused on Medicaid eligibility. Topics will include:

  • Medicaid eligibility for nursing homes and other long-term care facilities
  • Medicaid programs available in Iowa
  • Medical assistance income trusts


SPEAKER

Scott Hartsook

From 1997 to 2018, Scott Hartsook was the Managing Attorney of the Legal Hotline for Older Iowans, a special project of Iowa Legal Aid that provides free legal advice to Iowans who are 60 or older. Scott is a frequent speaker about Medicaid. He currently maintains a part-time law practice in Des Moines that helps people with Medicaid and other elder law issues.


This free event is for the public. There will be video and audio recording taken during this even at the ISBA Headquarters, as well as photographs. The ISBA may use the recordings in future publications and presentations, upload them to the ISBA website or present them in other media.
