The 2018 Iowa legislative session got underway on Monday, and despite the very difficult state budget situation, The Iowa State Bar Association is dedicated to pursuing an increase in compensation for court-appointed attorneys and a periodic cost-of-living adjustment.

The ISBA supports adequate compensation in order to ensure that the state meets its constitutional obligation to provide competent assistance of counsel to indigent persons accused of crimes. You can read more about this issue and the ISBA position in the December-January 2018 issue of The Iowa Lawyer.
