Keith Luchtel, Iowa Public Information Board
Keith will be describing the Iowa Public Information Board, a new resource
for Iowa attorneys interested in open meetings (Code Chapter 21) and open
records (Code Chapter 22) issues. The presentation will include
information about the Board’s organization, general powers and duties,
enforcement powers, and operational experience since opening for business on
July 8, 2013.
Keith serves as Executive
Director of the Iowa Public Information Board. He is a graduate of the
Drake University Law School. He retired in 2012 from the practice of law
after practicing 40 years with Nyemaster Goode in Des Moines. He
practiced primarily as a litigator from 1973 through 1983. In 1981 he
began practice in the legislative area and primarily practiced in that area
from 1984 until his retirement. Keith served as Clive City Attorney from
1980 to 1987. He is a 1964 graduate of the United States Air Force
Academy and served in the Air Force until 1970.
