Old age isn’t for sissies. Between 2002 and 2012 there was a 21% increase in Americans over 65 and it is projected that America will have nearly 80 million citizens over the age of 65 by the year 2040.

Aging introduces a host of largely unwanted changes for senior individual and their family members. It can be difficult and stressful to establish and maintain everyone’s’ new role in a manner that is agreeable and respectful. Mediation allows families to resolve these disputes through a respectful and proactive process.

Uses for elder mediation include:

•    Health/medical care
•    Living arrangements and personal household care
•    Financial and healthcare POA
•    Respite support for caregivers
•    Guardianship or conservatorship
•    Probate issues

SPEAKER

Kristen Hall, Attorney and Certified Mediator, KH Mediation

Kristen Hall is a mediator and attorney in private practice in Des Moines, IA.  She received her B.A. from Vanderbilt University in Communications and her J.D. from Drake University.  Ms. Hall has experience in mediating elder law, employment and family law disputes.

Through her mediation practice Ms. Hall works with people in conflict to improve communication and find creative solutions.  She sees mediation as an opportunity to meet people where they are and help them get past the roadblocks to reach their potential.  Mediation provides a safe environment where people can come together to identify the source of their conflict and the goals they share in order to create a new plan moving forward.
