Washburn University School of Law, in conjunction with the Kansas State University Department of Agricultural Economics, the Kansas Society of CPAs, and The Iowa State Bar Association, is pleased to present the CLE "The Present Tax Landscape: Implications for Individuals, Businesses, Investors, and Others" on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, in Room 114 at Washburn Law School. This CLE will also be available as a webinar for those who would like to attend online.

Beginning with a "Blueprint for Tax Reform" made public by the U.S. House Ways and Means Committee in the summer of 2016, the possibility of significant tax reform has been in the news. Throughout 2017, various proposals have been made that would significantly alter the taxation of individuals, businesses, investments and international transactions. In the fall of 2017, those proposals ultimately resulted in legislation passing the U.S. House and the U.S. Senate, with the tax bills of the two bodies making their way to conference committee.

This 2-hour seminar/webinar will examine the present status of the law as applied to the preparation of returns for the 2017 tax year. Then, the present status of the law as modified by any enacted legislation will be summarized and planning implications explored for individual taxpayers, business entities, and investors. Special attention will also be made to agricultural taxpayers, farming businesses, cooperatives, and other agribusinesses.
