ISBA to seek periodic cost-of living adjustments for indigent defense compensation

The 2018 Iowa legislative session got underway on Monday, and despite the very difficult state budget situation, The Iowa State Bar Association is dedicated to pursuing an increase in compensation for court-appointed attorneys and a periodic cost-of-living adjustment.

The ISBA supports adequate compensation in order to ensure that the state meets its constitutional obligation to provide competent assistance of counsel to indigent persons accused of crimes.
