The Iowa State Bar Foundation
The Iowa State Bar Foundation was established in 1944 to support the efforts of The Iowa State Bar Association to advance jurisprudence and the administration of justice through education and research.
The Iowa State Bar Association has always been a voluntary organization. That system has worked well, and has fostered a genuine spirit of volunteerism within the profession. The Bar Foundation provides another opportunity to support worthwhile law-related projects that enhance the profession and the practice of law in the state and serve the public through education of the legal system.
The Iowa State Bar Foundation is a separate legal entity from The Iowa State Bar Association. It is governed by a nine-person Board of Directors made up of attorneys from across the state. Because the Foundation is a 501(c)6 nonprofit organization, contributions are tax deductible to the extent allowed by the law.
