Courthouse Security Task Force Report

In 2005, two tragic and violent events impacting courthouse security and the safety of our judiciary shocked the nation. In response to the Atlanta courthouse shootings and the murders of a Federal Judge’s family members in Chicago, Immediate Past President of the Iowa State Bar Association, Nick Critelli, called for the formation of a task force "to study courthouse safety issues in the State of Iowa and to present recommendations regarding safety issues to assure that the Iowa Judges, court support personnel, and the public are as safe as is practicable.”

The ISBA is committed to ensuring our State's courthouses are safe.

In 2005, the ISBA issued a 115 page task force report on courthouse safety and security.
